Public and private schools in the northern emirates have warned that students will be absent from school hours before the start of the Eid Al-Fitr holiday, which extends for a week, starting from next Saturday (April 30) until Friday (May 6).

She emphasized the application of the Student Conduct Regulations to absent students, and deducting grades from any student who misses school hours without a medical report or an acceptable excuse.

The Sharjah Private Education Authority confirmed that "education is in attendance for all students in the emirate's private schools, except for the excluded groups."

And «Emirates Today» monitored the promotion of students through social media programs and pages to be absent from school hours during the current week until the end of the vacation.

School administrations confirmed sending text messages to the students’ families informing them of the continuation of school hours during the current week, pointing out that mechanisms have been put in place to monitor the attendance and absence of students.

Schools witness large absenteeism rates before the holidays of religious and national occasions, due to each other's encouragement to be absent, despite the schools urging them to attend the school hours.

Private schools recorded full compliance with kindergarten and basic education students, on previous occasions, while the absence of preparatory and secondary students reached 60%.

And she warned that "no lessons will not be re-explained to any student who is absent from school hours."

An administrator in a private school in the Emirate of Fujairah, Amna Abdullah, confirmed that the administration of her school examined the causes of absences, which usually exceed 50%, to avoid recurrence in similar occasions.

She added that she concluded that "the most important reasons are the student's lack of awareness of the importance of the school day," adding that she decided to solve the problem of students' absenteeism by allocating the week before the Eid holiday to submit projects and reports on basic subjects, whose grades are calculated from 10 to 20 degrees.

A teacher of the foundation stage in a public school, Moza Muhammad, stated that the students of the foundation stage are the most committed to school hours, due to the direct influence of parents on them and their compulsion to commit.

She added that "the lessons are continuing, and will not be re-explained later, given the shortness of the last semester, and until the student realizes the importance of school attendance and commitment."
