  • Policy Internal control of the CNI, declassify documents and give accounts in Congress: The measures of the Government to counteract the 'catalangate'

The Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, has categorically and repeatedly denied that there has been massive illegal espionage of the independence movement with the Pegasus system and has summoned ERC, Junts and EH Bildu to listen to the explanations they will receive from the director of the

CNI

,

Paz Esteban,

in Congress when the official secrets commission is constituted.

"Everything will appear there."

Robles has had to answer up to three questions on this subject in the control session of the Government in the Senate, within the parliamentary offensive that the independence parties are deploying to demand accounts from the Executive.

To all of them, the Minister of Defense has responded strongly defending that the Government and its agencies "work in accordance with the principle of legality and with the most absolute respect for the law".

"I can say it louder, in Spanish or Catalan, the Government acts in scrupulous compliance with the law and with the Government all its public bodies", he stressed.

"All public bodies comply with current legislation. Perhaps not all can say the same," he replied to Junts.

Robles has insisted at all times that the CNI acts according to the law and has stated that this is how the director of the intelligence center will explain it "without any limitations" when the time comes in Congress, now that the creation is going to be unblocked of the official secrets commission.

Until then, she has defended that the Executive is obliged to "keep secret" because the law prevents revealing material that is considered reserved or classified, and all activities related to the CNI operate under that status.

"This government is scrupulous about legality, I know they don't like it, but that's the way it is," she said.

"When the moment arrives, in the commission of reserved expenses, those things that I cannot explain to you now, at this moment, you will already know about them", he insisted.

Robles has criticized the senators of Junts, ERC and EH Bildu for their accusations and accusations "without any type of evidence" and has challenged these parties to go to court if they have doubts about compliance with the laws.

"There is no problem, it seems very good to me, but with all the consequences, because the false accusation and complaint is also a crime at times."

For their part, ERC, Junts and Bildu have hammered Robles with accusations.

They have described the alleged espionage as a "major scandal" and have warned that "the dirty war against independence is repression."

For all these reasons, they demand a commission of investigation.

"Either they investigate and purge responsibilities or they are accomplices", demanded the senator from Junts

Josep Lluís Cleries

, who has asked to break the silence to find out what the "responsibilities" that the Government has.

Senators from Puigdemont's party have unfurled a banner reading "Catalangate.

Ens estan vigilant (

they are watching us)".

"Massive espionage is synonymous with political repression", the ERC senator

Mireia Cortés

has reproached for her part .
