The insolvent Airport Hahn sees itself on the upswing and is looking for employees.

"Flight operations at Frankfurt-Hahn Airport are developing positively, both in the passage and in air freight," said insolvency administrator Jan Markus Plathner on request.

"In particular, we perceive the brisk Easter travel traffic in such a way that people are happy to travel again." The corona pandemic had severely restricted this for a long time.

"We will therefore continue flight operations in May and are looking for several employees for ground handling services.

The employment relationships are open-ended,” said the lawyer.

According to Plathner's spokesman, the approximately 430 previous employees of the Rhineland-Palatinate airport with a Hessian minority stake will continue to be paid.

Six creditors' meetings at Hahn

The insolvency administrator has still not commented on the names and concepts of potential buyers for Hahn Airport.

The works council hopes that the airport will remain as an airport and not just as a larger business park.

Plathner simply said: "The transaction process continues in parallel."

This Wednesday, six successive creditors' meetings are scheduled at the insolvency court in Bad Kreuznach.

Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH is the first, followed by five affiliated companies.

Plathner informs the creditors about the details of the insolvency proceedings.

The airport in the Hunsrück, which is called Frankfurt-Hahn Airport for marketing reasons, filed for bankruptcy in October 2021.

The Chinese group HNA, which has also been ailing in the meantime, acquired 82.5 percent of the airport from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in 2017 for around 15 million euros.

Hesse still holds 17.5 percent.
