The talks lasted about 25 minutes, and both sides emphasized the need to improve Japan-South Korea relations, which have been at a low ebb due to issues such as forced labor.
According to sources, the South Korean delegation also handed over a personal letter from Yin Xiyue to Kishida Fumio.
According to the plan, Yin Xiyue will officially take office as the President of South Korea on May 10.
