“We urge the United States to faithfully adhere to the One China principle and the provisions of the three joint China-US communiqués, and be careful in their words and actions on the Taiwan issue,” the spokesman was quoted by TASS as saying.
He noted that this will help not damage relations between the US and China and maintain stability.
Earlier, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Senior Colonel Wu Qian said that the recent visit of US congressmen to Taiwan undermines the political basis of China-US relations.
The press service of the Eastern Zone Combat Command of the People's Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China also reported that the Chinese army will conduct military exercises in the Taiwan area in response to the provocative actions of the United States.
