"Classmates, come and guess what word is this?" Qin Gang, the Chinese ambassador to the United States, gave a Chinese class to American students on the 25th.

He started his teaching with a seal script "和".

Qin Gang and his entourage visited Yinghua College, a Chinese immersion charter school located in Minneapolis, Minneapolis.

He visited the campus with Chinese elements, took Chinese classes, listened to Chinese speeches, and interacted with students of different grades.

In the Chinese class, Qin Gang combined slide presentations, starting from the ancient radicals of the word "和", and talked about the origin of "harmonious and pleasant music" played by different traditional Chinese musical instruments.

When he explained the meaning of "harmony but different" to the students, he said, "Everyone can maintain their own character and preferences, and at the same time can not hinder others and impose their own likes and dislikes on others. The important thing is to respect each other and be a Friendly people, helpful people."

In the kindergarten classroom, a child asked Qin Gang, "Do you like to be in China or the United States?" Qin Gang said, "I like both. China is my home, and I have many friends in the United States. I would like to have friends in the United States, including The children of Yinghua College communicated together.”

Qin Gang and his party also came to the gymnasium to watch the students' artistic performance.

The four students delivered speeches such as "I have a date with Chinese" and "Chinese grows with me" in fluent Chinese.

By telling the stories of learning Chinese, they all said that learning Chinese has opened up the "door to the East" for themselves, allowing them to appreciate the unique charm of Chinese culture, become "global citizens", and learn to view and understand different civilizations from different perspectives.

Afterwards, Qin Gang interacted with the students to ask questions.

When Qin Gang was telling about the world of Datong described in Confucius' "The Great Harmony of Liyun", the students recited in unison, "The journey of the Dao is also the world for the public..." Qin Gang quickly said, "My class has got an axe."

"Learning Chinese is not easy, it requires perseverance, courage, persistence and persistence. I will continue to cheer for you!" Qin Gang finally told the students that by learning Chinese, everyone can also better understand Chinese culture and values.

The cultures of China and the United States are different, but the people of the two countries should communicate with each other and enhance their understanding.

Only when people live in harmony and tolerate each other can we jointly build a peaceful and harmonious world and a community with a shared future for mankind, that is, the "Great Harmony World".

Founded in 2006, Yinghua Academy is the first public Chinese immersion charter school in the United States, with more than 800 students from kindergarten to eighth grade.

All major subjects are taught in Chinese until the second year of the school.

In an interview with a reporter from China News Agency, Sue Berg, the principal of Yinghua College, said that, like the ripples caused by a stone thrown into the water, learning Chinese makes the students of Yinghua College feel the energy and potential of bilingual and cross-cultural communication. .

The development of US-China relations stems from the face-to-face exchanges between the people of the two countries. Only through people-to-people communication can goodwill be brought about, which is also the proper meaning of "harmony".
