Taanli 3, that's the name of the operation, took place from April 2 to 25 on the border between the two countries.

This is not the first time

that the two countries have collaborated in the fight against terrorism, there have already been operations Taanli 1 and 2.

For this third phase, a joint headquarters has been set up in Dori, in the north-east of Burkina.

The press kit mentions very significant resources: several hundred soldiers deployed, ground units mobilized as well as air surveillance and combat resources.

The two staffs are pleased with the success of this operation.

They evoke a significant balance sheet: a hundred terrorists neutralized, 40 others arrested.

During civil-military actions, the soldiers also distributed 200 tonnes of food and medicine to civilian populations.

Abuses against civilians?

It should be noted that this military operation took place in particular in the far north of Burkina, where several sources alerted RFI last week to probable abuses against civilians.

Facts refuted by the Burkinabè Ministry of Defense in a

press release published on Sunday, April 24.

He nevertheless announces the opening of an investigation into “

these serious allegations

 ”.

With this operation, the two countries are, in any case, highlighting their good collaboration.

The statement emphasizes "

 the excellence of military cooperation

" between the two countries.

Taanli also means “alliance” or “cohesion” in the Gulmatchéma language.

The Burkinabe transitional authorities intend to maintain good relations with their neighbors and in particular their partners in the fight against terrorism.

Monday, the presidency announced the dispatch, this weekend, of emissaries to Bamako.

Several officers thus met the Malian president of the transition, Colonel Assimi Goïta.
