Al-Jazeera correspondent quoted security sources as saying that 5 people - including 3 Chinese - were killed as a result of a suicide bombing carried out by a woman against a car carrying Chinese people near a Chinese institute at the University of Karachi in southern Pakistan on Tuesday.

The sources said that among the dead were the director of the Chinese Language Institute and a Chinese teacher.

And the so-called Balochistan Liberation Army - through social media platforms - claimed responsibility for the bombing, and published a picture of the bomber.

And he said - in a post on Telegram - that he adopted the "suicide attack against the Chinese in Karachi," noting that it was the first suicide attack carried out by a woman.

Official sources in Pakistan say that "enemy" parties are seeking to sabotage Sino-Pakistani relations, and that among their activities was an attack that took place a few months ago on a bus carrying Chinese engineers working on the construction of the Dassault Dam.

Chinese institutions are subjected from time to time to attacks by separatists in Balochistan province, where Beijing is involved in massive infrastructure projects under the "Belt and Road Initiative".

The separatists are protesting the lucrative mining and energy projects in the area, as they believe that the population is not benefiting from these investments.
