About 40 countries are meeting this Tuesday in western Germany, at the invitation of the United States, to strengthen the defense of Ukraine.
At a time when Russia is aiming for full control of southern Ukraine and
Donbass
, this meeting organized at the American air base in Ramstein is intended to "
generate additional capabilities for Ukrainian forces
", explains the American Minister of Defense Lloyd Austin.
"
They can win if they have the right equipment, the right support
," he said at a press conference after returning from a visit to Kiev.
The United States, which provides the bulk of international military aid to Ukraine, wants to "
give the type of support, the type of artillery and ammunition that will be effective at this stage of the fight
", specifies the leader of the Pentagon.
kyiv is mainly calling for heavy artillery and armor to try to push back the Russian army in the vast southern and eastern plains of the country, but the equipment on which the Ukrainian forces have been trained, overwhelmingly from from Russia, is becoming rare.
France has already announced that it is sending Caesar guns with a range of 40 km, and the United Kingdom has donated Starstreak anti-aircraft missiles and armored vehicles.
