United States: agreement reached for the takeover of Twitter by Elon Musk

American billionaire Elon Musk has reached an agreement on Monday, April 25, to buy the social network Twitter for 44 billion dollars.

The talks, which seemed uncertain last week, accelerated over the weekend after Mr Musk courted shareholders, presenting them with the financial details of his offer. Twitter then began to negotiate with the billionaire the takeover of the company at the proposed price of $54.20 per share.

This operation will be followed by the suspension of the listing of Twitter, introduced on the stock exchange in 2013. “Freedom of expression is the foundation of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital public place where vital questions 'future of humanity,' Elon Musk said in a statement.
