Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine enters its third month this Monday.

Even Russian propaganda no longer claims that everything is going militarily "according to plan" in the neighboring country.

The Ukrainians fared much better than many had thought possible some time after the attack from three directions.

But every day the question becomes more pressing as to how much longer they can withstand the pressure of the invaders.

The units are certainly not lacking in combat morale.

But they must be equipped with everything necessary for a successful defense.

This is where foreign countries come into play, not least Germany.

There was certainly no lack of gestures and words of solidarity.

But action is required.

And politically, too, Ukraine must be supported in all international forums.

This also includes visits by important politicians to Kyiv.

The Americans are now even sending their foreign and defense ministers to Ukraine.

They should not only strengthen the moral back of the attacked.

On the other hand, there is no point in Western politicians traveling to Moscow for the time being.

Vladimir Putin is entrenched in his own world and sees Western emissaries as enemies.

It will be interesting to see if the Russian President also puts the Secretary-General of the United Nations in this category.

António Guterres wants to visit both Moscow and Kyiv.

Don't expect miracles from this trip.

If Putin seriously believes what some of his followers are saying, that Russia is ultimately fighting the whole world, then it is finally clear that an end to the war is only realistic when there is another president in the Kremlin.

Then the (last?) credulous people in the West would finally have to bid farewell to the illusion that, after all, Putin is “only” concerned with Ukraine.
