Today, everyone over 85 does not have to pay a patient fee in the Kalmar County region.

If the Social Democrats win the election this autumn, that age will be lowered to 65, the promised party at a press conference on Monday.

- We Social Democrats believe that those who have worked a full working life, or are still working, and built our country have the right to a secure old age.

Their health should not be a matter of the wallet.

A vote for us and we will abolish patient fees for people over 65, says Peter Wretlund (S), Regional Councilor.

Costs up to 40 million

The promise would affect just over 56,000 pensioners in the county.

In one year, the cost of implementing the proposal is estimated at SEK 30-40 million.

- We have high-cost protection, that's good.

But if you do not have such a high pension, you can not afford to pay the fees.

Especially some women who do not have a high pension, says Yvonne Hagberg (S) regional councilor in Kalmar.

Angelica Katsanidou (S), chair of the regional board, tells in the video above why they want to prioritize this issue.
