- We want to live in our city, in our country.

We're tired of these bombings, the constant airstrikes.

The pictures are said to show civilians in the besieged steelworks in Mariupol.

President Vladimir Putin has put an end to an attack on the area and instead ordered the forces to surround it.

"There is no agreement"

On Monday, word came from Russia that they intend to let civilians leave the area, reports Reuters.

Ukraine, for its part, says no such agreement has been reached.

"It is important to understand that humanitarian corridors can open when there is an agreement between both parties.

A unilateral commitment does not provide sufficient security and can therefore not be considered a humanitarian corridor, writes Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshschuk on Telegram.

The UN chief and Putin will talk about Mariupol

Tomorrow Tuesday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will travel to Moscow to meet with President Vladimir Putin, the first meeting between the parties since the war broke out in late February.

According to the Russian state-controlled RIA, which quotes Russia's foreign minister, the meeting will include the situation in Mariupol.

According to information, tens of thousands of civilians remain in the city and thousands of these are said to have taken refuge in the industrial area where the steelworks is located.
