Pensions: Registration and subscription for citizens working in the public and private sectors is mandatory

The General Pension and Social Security Authority confirmed that registration and subscription on behalf of the insured represents the first step towards fulfilling the insurance benefits assigned to them upon completion of the periods necessary to obtain the retirement pension, end-of-service gratuity, or disability and death compensation.

Acting Director of the Pension Operations Department, Muhammad Saqr Al Hammadi, explained that “registration and subscription for citizens working in the public and private sectors is mandatory under the provisions of Federal Law No. This includes military retirees who were appointed to the federal government after the date of November 15, 1999, according to Cabinet Resolution No. /21/ of 1999.

He pointed out that "every citizen who works for an employer must verify whether that entity has registered him with the authority, and he must initiate contacting the authority if it appears to him that he has not been registered to protect his rights and the rights of his family."
