A Marine Corps soldier who tried to enter Ukraine after leaving the country without permission on vacation was arrested after more than a month.

The Marine Corps investigation team said, "On Monday, March 21st, we secured a new recruit for Private A, who defected from military service abroad, and arrested him after returning home today (25th)."

"After an investigation into the circumstances of the departure from military service in the future, we will take strict measures in accordance with laws and regulations," he said.

A, a member of the Marine Corps, left for Poland through Incheon International Airport on the 21st of last month while on vacation and attempted to enter Ukraine.

However, entry was denied at the Ukrainian side border checkpoint, and the Ukrainian side took Mr. A to the Polish border checkpoint in the border city of southeast Poland.

However, Mr. A left the Polish Border Guard building at dawn on the 23rd of last month local time, and his whereabouts were unknown as he did not receive any contact at one time.
