Kim Dong-yeon, former deputy prime minister of the economy, succeeded in winning a majority of the votes in the intra-party primary, and was confirmed as a candidate for the Democratic Party's Gyeonggi governor without a runoff vote.

The Democratic Party announced on the 22nd that as a result of holding the primary with 50% of party members and 50% of the general public, former Deputy Prime Minister Kim won the first place with 50.67% of the votes.

Next, Rep. Ahn Min-seok came in second with 21.61 percent, former Suwon Mayor Yeom Tae-young third with 19.06 percent, and Rep. Jo Jung-sik came in fourth with 8.66 percent of the vote.

The New Wave and the Democratic Party completed the merger process on the 15th, just 10 days ago, and former Deputy Prime Minister Kim has been cited as a weak point in the relatively weak internal party base, but it has exceeded expectations and succeeded in winning a majority of the votes.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Kim, who advocated 'value solidarity' with then Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung in the last presidential election, will now face off against Rep. Kim Eun-hye, the people's power who represents the heart of President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol, the so-called 'yun-shim' in the final.

During the last presidential election, Rep. Kim attacked Lee and made his name nationwide as a so-called 'Daejang-dong sniper'.

On the other hand, in the Democratic Party's presidential election for Chungnam governor, current governor Yang Seung-jo won 76.54% of the vote, beating former Nonsan Mayor Hwang Myeong-seon with 23.46%.

In the Sejong mayor primary, current Mayor Lee Chun-hee and former deputy mayor Jo Sang-ho advanced to the finals.
