According to the Associated Press, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida expressed hope for close cooperation with Macron on a wide range of issues, including in resolving the situation in Ukraine.

Deputy General Secretary of the Japanese Cabinet Yoshihiko Isozaki also noted the need for greater unity of the G7 to preserve world order.

“We plan to continue working closely with France, led by President Macron,” he said.

After counting 100% of the vote, Macron won 58.55% in the second round of the presidential election.
