Three women and a man were stabbed to death in an apartment in southeast London, while a 20-year-old suspect was arrested, police said Monday.

Police found the victims, who apparently knew each other, on Monday morning after being called into the night due to a disturbance in London's Southwark borough.

Colin Wingrove, who is in charge of London police in that area, said officers "made a horrific discovery with four people stabbed".

Despite the efforts made, they could not be revived, and they were declared dead on the spot.

The three women are about 60, 40 and 30 years old.

The man is sixty.

A suspect, aged about 20, was arrested at the scene and remanded in custody for murder, Winggrove added, adding that police were looking for another person in connection with this case.

Police sent reinforcements to the neighborhood to reassure residents.
