This success allows him to climb two places in the ATP rankings, which in return sees Briton Cameron Norrie (eleventh) out of the top 10, eliminated in the quarter-finals in the Catalan city.
Finalist in Belgrade, where he was beaten by Russian Andrey Rublev (still N.8 in the world), Novak Djokovic still sits in first place in the ATP rankings, ahead of another Russian, Daniil Medvedev, who announced in early April that he was injured, estimating that he would be absent one to two months.
On the French side, Gaël Monfils remains at the gates of the top 20, in 21st place in the world, far ahead of Ugo Humbert (N.45), Arthur Rinderknech (N.57) and Benjamin Bonzi (N.58).
