The Vitry-le-François hospital center (Marne) was the victim of a computer hack on April 19.

Only administrative data was stolen by hackers, reports France 3 Grand Est.

No medical data would have been stolen at this stage.

Presumably from Eastern Europe, the criminals have made a ransom demand of $1.3 million.

Hundreds of stolen documents

At a press conference on Friday, hospital management said an investigation was underway.

The other hospitals belonging to the same group are not affected by the cyberattack.

Patient care continues in a secure manner.

In total, a hundred documents and letters addressed to patients were copied and put up for sale on the darknet.

They contain Social Security numbers, employee access codes and billing data.

The Territorial Hospital Group (GHT) Cœur Grand-Est has already announced that it will not respond to the ransom demand.
