With the time difference, the votes for the second round of the presidential election took place in the Overseas Territories on Saturday 23 April.

The results are kept secret in the prefecture.

Nevertheless, participation figures are on the rise in most overseas regions.

The French people in mainland France are voting this Sunday, April 24.

For most of the French overseas, the ballots have already been deposited in the ballot box on Saturday April 23 because of the time difference.

Thus, in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, in Guyana or in the West Indies, the vote and the counting have already taken place.

The results are kept secret in the prefecture but the participation rate is on the rise in these territories.

Important mobilization in Martinique

In Overseas, the participation rate has increased almost everywhere and sometimes very significantly.

In Guyana, for example, the participation rate is 37.55%.

A figure up three points from the first round, even if it is down from 2017.

In Guadeloupe too, participation increases by one point compared to the first round.

In Martinique, the mobilization is the most important.

At 5 p.m., 42% of voters had moved.

This represents seven points more than in the first round and even more than five years ago.

Record abstention in New Caledonia

On the Mayotte side, at 12 p.m., the participation in the ballot was 17%, a figure which is close to the participation rate during the first round.

In Reunion, we vote just over two points with a rate of 22.80%.

This increase is slight, as in French Polynesia.

The only notable drop is in New Caledonia, which is moving towards record abstention since only 34.87% of voters turned out at 5 p.m.

It's roughly equivalent to the first round.
