In February 2021, a truck from south-eastern Europe loaded mobile phones that had been stolen from Swedish trucks.

The place was what is described as a receiving center in Arlöv.

A few days later, the police see how the mobile phones are connected and used in Croatia, Serbia and Albania.

 - It is a crime that has a turnover of approximately SEK 600 million a year in Sweden, says Mikael Björk, reconnaissance leader of the police.

Stopped in Trelleborg

A month later, the same truck is loaded with 100 laptops, worth ten million kronor, which were stolen from a truck a few days before.

But this time the police follow and stop the truck at the port of Trelleborg.

The driver was sentenced to one year in prison for aggravated receiving.

 - We see a very fast turnover of the goods from the time they are stolen, come to the receiving center, a foreign truck loads and is on its way out of the country when we strike, says chamber prosecutor Mårten Alvinsson.

The investigation of the receiving center is complete, but a decision on prosecution has not yet been made.

Items have been sold in Malmö store

Some of the goods stay in Sweden.

About twenty people are suspects at all levels.

From serious receiving crimes and thefts to private individuals who have bought stolen mobile phones, laptops and video games.

That part of the investigation is not yet complete.

Some of the goods have been sold in a store in Malmö.

- Ordinary people should think about what goods they buy, who they buy from and under what circumstances, says chamber prosecutor Mårten Alvinsson.

- If you buy it in a parking lot, via Blocket or Tradera, you should ask yourself: Who is the person I meet?

It is very important to check this before you buy something, says Mikael Björk, police intelligence leader.
