It's called A-guard, young people in A-tractors who are a bit of the police's extra eyes for crime prevention purposes.

Moa and Vilma have taken on the task of keeping track of what is happening and recently Moa discovered a burglary.

- We called the police and the criminals could be arrested, she says in the video above.

About 40 young people

The initiative for A-guard comes from the youth farm in Matfors and takes place in collaboration with the more established village guard.

Vilma and Moa are two of about 40 young people in Matfors who took up the offer to keep track of society.

It really rattles and foams when we ride in the girls' a-tractor on a reconnaissance round in the village.

The involvement in A-vakt has made them go to other places than before.

- We travel more on small roads and check at the school, Vilma explains.

Sound the alarm

The young people's involvement in the A-guard is welcomed by the police, who point out that it is about detecting and sounding the alarm, just as the girls did.

- This is exactly how we want them to act, not to intervene themselves but to be eyes out and be able to report what you see, says Niclas Flodin who is group manager within the local police area Medelpad.
