The Yemeni Presidential Council affirms its constant quest for peace

The Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, headed by Rashad Al-Alimi, said that the Houthi militias, through their continued violations of the UN armistice, reinforce their unwillingness to achieve peace.

The presidency of the Consultation and Reconciliation Support Commission for the Presidential Leadership Council, in its first meeting today, in Aden, headed by the Chairman of the Commission, Muhammad Al-Ghaithi, stressed the principle of reconciliation, consensus, cooperation, the spirit of teamwork and unifying positions for the service of the higher national interests.

Informed sources in Sanaa confirmed that the Houthi militias expressed during the ongoing consultations their willingness to continue the truce and move to the new phase of negotiations with the Presidential Leadership Council, on conditions including ensuring the permanent opening of Sanaa Airport, while the militias did not show any response regarding their commitment to the provisions of the truce in force, including the opening of crossings. And roads, to facilitate the movement of civilians and the access of humanitarian aid to those who deserve it.

The sources pointed out that the militias agreed to move to the stage of direct negotiations with the Presidential Council in a neutral country during next May, if its conditions are implemented.

In addition, the Houthi militias continued their escalation and violations of the armistice, by targeting Yemeni army positions in Al-Jawf, Marib and the western coast with booby-trapped drones. One of these attacks damaged an ambulance belonging to the Yemeni forces in the Jadafer front, east of Al-Hazm city in Al-Jawf Governorate.

The Yemeni army website indicated that the militias continued to build fortifications and mobilize reinforcements to several fronts in the Marib Governorate, and the Yemeni army announced that it had monitored 71 violations of the UN armistice committed by the militias during the past hours in 5 governorates.

Marib witnessed confrontations with the Houthi militia, which tried to infiltrate separate locations in the Ramli axis, south of the governorate, while the joint forces on the western coast monitored two militia reconnaissance marches in the skies of Mocha.

In the north of Lahj, the militias kidnapped two workers in the field of community initiatives in the Qubaita district, "Sami Mahfouz and Osama Rashid" and took them to Al-Saleh prison, east of Taiz.

In Sanaa, a huge explosion occurred at dawn today, at the headquarters of the formerly Cannon of the First Division, north of the city, followed by clashes with machine guns, according to eyewitnesses in the area, pointing to "Houthi - Houthi" differences behind the explosion and clashes.

And regarding the Safer oil tanker, the United Nations announced, today, Saturday, a conference next May to collect donations, in order to confront the threat of the "Safer" oil tanker in Yemen.

The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, David Gressly, said in a tweet on Twitter: "The United Nations is working to help prevent an environmental and humanitarian disaster centered off the Red Sea coast in Yemen. On May 11, the United Nations and the Netherlands will co-chair the pledging event for the plan that coordinated by the United Nations to counter the threat from the Safer oil tank.
