A senior commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard escaped from a shooting attack that targeted his car this morning, while his personal companion was killed, according to identical news reports.

The Iranian news agency reported that the shooting near the city of Zahedan in the southeast led to the death of the personal companion of the commander of the Salman Corps in the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

A security source confirmed that Brigadier General Hussein al-Masi, who leads the Salman Corps of the Revolutionary Guards, was not injured.

An Iranian security official said that the authorities had arrested those involved in the shooting of the corps commander, and had begun investigations with them.

"Following the shooting at dawn today, Saturday, corresponding to the Night of Power, by an unknown person or persons, towards the car of Brigadier General Al-Massy, ​​commander of the Salman Al-Farsi Brigade in Zahedan, his bodyguard, Mahmoud Absalan, was martyred," Mehr news agency reported.

She added that the Revolutionary Guards' operations team was able to arrest the gunmen who opened fire, and clarified that the dead man was Mahmoud Absalan, the son of Brigadier General Pervez Absalan, the deputy commander of the Revolutionary Guards in the province.
