Before the war, Oleg lived in Kharkiv, with his mother, father and brother.

Since the outbreak of the war, the city has been hit hard by Russian bombings.

- We sought protection in the basement, and it was very difficult.

A couple of times I fell when I was going to sit down with mom and dad, it was very uncomfortable because we were in such a hurry, says Oleg Alymov.

The family stayed in their hometown for as long as they could, but when a grenade hit the neighboring house, they decided to flee.

In the clip above, you hear Oleg tell about the escape from Kharkiv.

Received by parasport association

When the family moved to Malmö, they and 38 other refugees were received by the parasport association FIFH.

- We took them in here at the FIFH hall, offered breakfast and lunch, and then we had arranged for volunteers who drove them out to the various private homes that we had managed to arrange, says Peter Nilsson, CFO at FIFH.

Even after the reception, the association has continued to help the refugees, including in contacts with authorities and with the care.

The Parasport Association FIFH received 42 Ukrainian refugees, including Oleg and his family.

The bus they arrived with was filled with supplies and sent back to Ukraine.

Peter Nilsson himself opened his home to Oleg and his family.

- This was something we wanted to do, and it felt good to be able to do it for someone else, says Peter Nilsson.

- When we met Peter and his large and friendly family for the first time, it felt like we were received by relatives, says Oleg Alymov.
