When Johan and Roja were looking to buy a house, they suddenly saw an odd house project in a TV program.

- I immediately got hooked on the idea and when we then got to visit the house and saw all the fruit trees and grapes hanging there - then I was sold, says Roja Brimalm and laughs.

"Nice to escape the wind"

The couple decided to make their dream come true and after a few years of intensive construction, they have now lived the first winter in their own greenhouse.

- It has been nice in here.

We have had a few degrees below zero, but we can regulate that now that we know more about how it works.

It also often blows here around Vadstena and it has been very nice to avoid the wind, says Johan Holmstedt.

Coffee on the patio and bumblebees in a box

The construction project with the house is tough going forward and in recent months a lot has happened in the garden.

- About three weeks ago, all the fruit trees with almonds, apricots and peaches started to bloom, so I panicked a bit.

To get a chance for fruit, I had to buy bumblebees in a box.

It is clear that spring comes earlier here, says Roja.

- Yes, we have been sitting out in the garden and eating breakfast since the beginning of February, so it's wonderful, says Johan.

Sustainability and self-sufficiency

In addition to a spectacular and beautiful house in a Mediterranean climate, there is also a focus on long-term sustainability of both.

- I think you should try to manage yourself as far as possible and save energy.

In addition to a built-in cycle system for water and plant beds, the next step is to become self-sufficient in electricity, says Johan.

- Of course, it is my hope to become self-sufficient, as much as possible, on both vegetables and fruits.

It's my dream, Roja concludes.

In the clip, you get to follow into the house and the garden that is inside the greenhouse.
