A Chinese man doing business in Rwanda has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for beating a local employee.



According to foreign media reports such as the US NBC and the South China Morning Post (SCMP) on the 21st local time, the Rwanda Karongi Intermediate Court sentenced Xun Shujun (43), a Chinese person, to 20 years in prison for torture of two Rwandans on the 19th. .



Shen Shujun, who runs a mining company in western Rwanda, Africa, tied two local workers to a tree and tortured them in August last year for stealing the company's minerals several times.

The incident became controversial when company employees at the scene secretly took pictures of the beatings and shared them on social media.



The staff who filmed the video testified in court, "Shujun Xun suspected two staff members as thieves and tied them to a tree and beat them with whips."



In the courtroom, Shen Shujun admitted to the assault, saying, "The workers who kept stealing minerals got angry and beat me." I did.



However, the local prosecutor's office refuted Shen Shujun's claim that the victims were afraid of the perpetrators and accepted the settlement money due to the trauma of the assault.



Judge Jacques Kanyarukiga of Rwanda's Intermediate Court sentenced 20 years in prison to 20 years in prison, saying, "It is a grave crime to torture and use corporal punishment with malicious intent." I did.
