At least five people were killed and 18 others injured in Russian strikes on Saturday on the port city of Odessa in southern Ukraine, announced the chief of staff of the Ukrainian presidency.

“Odessa: five Ukrainians killed and 18 injured.

And these are only the ones we have managed to find (at this stage).

In all likelihood, the toll will be heavier,” Andriï Iermak said on Telegram, adding that “a three-month-old baby” was among the victims.

The Ukrainian Air Force claimed on Facebook that Russian forces fired a series of missiles from Tu-95 bombers over the Caspian Sea.

“Terror” as an objective?

Two missiles hit a military installation, and two others apartment buildings.

Two more were destroyed by the anti-aircraft defense system, according to the Air Force.

"The only objective of the Russian missile strikes against Odessa is terror", accused the head of Ukrainian diplomacy Dmytro Kouleba on Twitter, calling for erecting "a wall between civilization and the barbarians who attack peaceful cities with missiles”.
