The Berlin district court has now legally confirmed one of the few victories that chairman Meuthen, who later fled from the AfD, was able to achieve in the internal power struggle with right-wing extremist party friends.

The fact that he managed to get the party membership of the Brandenburg AfD right-wing extremist Andreas Kalbitz annulled on the federal executive board at the time proved to be a Pyrrhic victory in retrospect.

Because the vote, which was only taken with a narrow majority, to throw Kalbitz out of the AfD because of “malicious deception” about previous memberships in right-wing extremist parties and organizations, also showed how strongly the ethnic “wing” was and is anchored in the party, which was only officially dissolved.

So strong that Meuthen, who portrayed himself as the bourgeois and friendly face of the AfD, capitulated to the extremists.

For many in the AfD, their mastermind and secret leader is still Kalbitz.

The Brandenburg AfD parliamentary group does not even think about excluding him from their ranks.

He continues to have significant influence there.

The command of the AfD party leader Tino Chrupalla sounds touching that all members "have to accept this verdict".

In Brandenburg, it will be seen how parts of the AfD feel about the rule of law and its judgments.
