On the morning of the 22nd, National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seok delivered an arbitration proposal to the Democratic Party and the leadership of the People's Power, and then effectively gave an ultimatum.

[Park Byeong-seok/Chairman of the National Assembly: Today, we delivered the final arbitration plan of the chairman to the representatives of the ruling and opposition parties.

The chairman has no more cards.]

At the parliamentary meetings of both parties held one after another, it was the power of the people that came to the conclusion first.

[Kwon Seong-dong / People's Power Floor Leader: As a result of intense discussion, our party has decided to accept the chairman's mediation proposal.]

About an hour later, the Democratic Party also expressed its intention to accept it.

The agreement included contents such as the scope of direct investigation by the prosecution under the direction of separating the prosecution's direct investigative powers and the prosecution's powers, the reduction of the anti-corruption force division called the special division, and the prohibition of special investigations into cases sent to the police.

The bill will be proposed to the Judiciary Committee and the plenary session next week after drafting the bill based on the chairman's arbitration bill.

If it passes the National Assembly, it is expected to be promulgated at the last cabinet meeting of the Moon Jae-in government on the 3rd of next month.

The Justice Party also said that it respects the chairman's arbitration proposal and will work together to come up with an effective prosecution reform plan.

The conflict between the ruling and opposition parties, which had reached an extreme after the Democratic Party adopted the scrutiny and closure bill on the 12th, is in an atmosphere of closing for now, but there is a possibility that the opposition will clash again due to the review of specific bills and the formation of a special judicial reform committee stipulated in the arbitration bill.
