Dundret's mountain facility aims to produce between 3,000 and 4,000 guest places and the apartments are a step in the right direction, according to operations manager Tobias Larsson.

- We have counted on just over 724 guest places in connection with the construction, he says.

The hill remains

Liikavaarabacken itself has a history almost as long as Dundret's mountain facility and many Gällivare residents have taken their first slalom and snowboard runs on the slopes and there seem to be more.

- Liikavaarabacken will remain fixed in a new form.

We will need to move the closer to the lift than it is today, says Tobias Larsson.

According to him, Dundret will also create another children's slope by using part of Frejabacken.

The investment will tie Dundret together

The mountain facility is a large activity that is spread over a larger area of the mountain and with the construction of the apartments, the lift system can be connected to already built buildings higher up the hill where a former cottage village and the bear trap are located.

According to Tobias Larsson, one of the most urgent measures at Dundret to improve the infrastructure and communications for the mountain facility and the municipal company has therefore applied for additional money from the municipality to be able to implement the changes.
