Tech giant Apple, the first company to reach $3 trillion, had its eyes set on the electric car market a while ago.

Apple's efforts to enter the auto industry began in 2014, but only two years later the company decided to leave the project in favor of a self-driving platform.

In the early stages of development, it was alleged that Apple planned to develop the car on its own without the involvement of the companies involved in the auto industry.

However, due to a series of problems and limitations, the company decided to collaborate with a car maker.

A few years after the project was suspended, news emerged that Apple might join the auto industry, especially after Apple representatives met with several producers of various electric car parts, such as battery makers and car manufacturers.

potential partnerships

Representatives of the tech giant traveled to Asia last September to meet with Toyota officials and discuss a potential partnership.

Meanwhile, other reports indicated that Apple representatives met with the South Korean "SK Group" and "LG Electronics" last August, and the most likely focus of these conversations was the use of battery technology. .

Apple contacted other companies last year, including "Nissan", "Magna" and "Hyundai" and others, but without much success.

This pushed the announced date for Apple's mass production to 2025.

A high-tech car

Another rumor emerged that Apple decided once again to continue developing a high-tech electric car with independent functions on its own.

The new Apple car is said to be equipped with carOS, an integrated central operating system similar to the one used by Tesla.

Apple is expected to develop a software platform that can control every aspect of the car.

This operating system will improve navigation, entertainment and informational features, as well as sensors that aid in data processing.

The company currently offers CarPlay software for various vehicles, but it is limited to navigation and media playback capabilities.

Withdrawing expertise from competitors

Although several Tesla executives have moved to Apple over the past few years, there is still no indication of any related vehicle or platform.

Another indication of Apple's future plans in the automotive world can also be seen by hiring Ulrich Kranz last year to lead the electric car project.

Kranz is a former BMW executive with experience with the German automaker's electric car models.

Imaginary designs for an Apple car

The British car rental company Vanarama was inspired by current Apple products and patents in various fields and designed the Apple car from several angles, based on Apple patents.

There was a Divanga Pura concept published by YankoDesign for his Apple car, and the designer outlined his options in a recent interview with IE, noting that design choices have as much to do with function as they do with form.

“I wanted to design a radically different look, but at the same time offer a very simple transportation solution to solve the ever-increasing traffic congestion,” says Bora.

We still have a long way to go

Apple is working hard on its fully autonomous electric car, however, and it looks like the tech giant is still years away from its launch.

According to market experts, Apple could sell about 1.5 million units by 2030 once they go on sale.

And while we keep hearing rumors about its design, tech specs, and potential production partners, the tech company itself has never confirmed the rumors about Apple's electric car.
