National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seok said that the biggest turning point in the negotiating process of the 'check-and-run' bill between the opposition and opposition parties was whether to reduce the scope of the six serious crimes that can be directly investigated by the prosecution.

In an exclusive interview with SBS on the afternoon of the 22nd, Chairman Park said that the issue of reducing the prosecution's investigative power was controversial until this morning, but he made the final decision, limiting the scope of the prosecution's direct investigation to two major crimes: corruption and economic crimes. One arbitration proposal emphasized that it was the decision of Chairman Park himself.

Chairman Park also said yesterday that he had formally requested the Democratic Party floor leader Park Hong-geun to suspend the composition of the National Assembly Judiciary Committee's agenda coordination committee.

He said that forcing the convening of an agenda coordination committee during negotiations would violate the spirit of cooperation between the ruling and opposition parties and would greatly affect the negotiation process, and that floor leader Park readily agreed.

Chairman Park recalled that it was very difficult to open the door to dialogue for the first time in a phase of confrontation between the ruling and opposition parties.

However, after opening the door of their hearts, they explained the negotiation process by saying that they talked about everything in their hearts and found a common denominator among them.

Chairman Park asked for understanding by saying that the prosecution may feel frustrated or lacking in the prosecution's response to the arbitration proposal, but he wanted to emphasize once again that the decision of the National Assembly is the decision of the people.

A detailed interview with Chairman Park will be delivered shortly on <SBS 8 News>.
