A Rwanda court has sentenced a Chinese man to 20 years in prison for tying his citizen to a wooden pole and whipping him.

Shujun Shen, a Chinese businessman running a mining company in western Rwanda, assaults two former workers for stealing the company's minerals.



This image was secretly filmed by other employees at the scene and shared on social media, and the Rwandan police arrested Xun Xujun in September last year.



Shen Shujun admitted to the assault in court, but claimed that the settlement had already been reached by paying 1 million Rwanda francs, or about 1.22 million won, to the victims.



A local court sentenced them to 20 years in prison, saying "torture and malicious corporal punishment of victims constitute a serious crime."
