According to diplomats, over the past few days, a monument to the fallen Soviet soldiers in Potsdam, as well as memorial sites in Neubrandenburg and Suhr, have been desecrated.

“We sent a note of protest to the German Foreign Ministry demanding to eliminate the consequences of the vandal attacks, establish the circumstances of the incident and bring those responsible to justice,” the statement says.

The Russian side considers these acts of vandalism as a cynical violation of the memory of the soldiers who gave their lives for the liberation of the world and Europe from Nazism, the embassy added.

Earlier, the Russian Embassy in Estonia called on the authorities of the republic to punish those responsible for desecrating the monument to the liberator soldier at the Military Cemetery in Tallinn.
