The first response from the endowments to the decision to prevent i’tikaaf and tahajjud in the mosques of Egypt

The Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf issued a statement explaining the reasons on which it relied for issuing its decision to prevent seclusion in mosques during the last ten days of Ramadan.

And the statement stated: “Based on the disciplined medical opinion and the consultation of the Ministry of Health, and based on the decisions of the Supreme Committee for the Management of the Epidemic Crisis and Health Regulations in the Council of Ministers: We affirm that the conditions and procedures for distancing do not enable, in the current circumstances, to allow the retreat this year in order to preserve lives, and the legitimate opinion is based on In this on the medical opinion, they are the people of competence in the decision to implement the distancing measures.”

And the statement continued: “This is with our affirmation that i’tikaaf is a fixed Sunnah of the Messenger of God (may God bless him and grant him peace), and nothing prevented us and from implementing it this year except for the public good based on legal and jurisprudential foundations, through the jurisprudence of budgets, and scientific and medical opinion.”
