On April 19th, the 2022 Beijing-Taiwan Community Tong-Ping Peking Opera Charm Online Exchange event was held simultaneously in Shijingshan District, Beijing and Kaohsiung, Taiwan. More than 200 community residents gathered in the "cloud" to connect via video Enjoy the performances of Peking Opera and taste the charm of Peking Opera.
The event kicked off with the dance "Bright Moon Chanting Nostalgia and Fulfilling China's Dreams" at the Beijing venue, followed by performances of classic repertoires such as "Sitting in the Palace" by famous Peking Opera artists and fans from both sides of the strait.
Hu Wenge, the only male student of Peking Opera master Mei Baojiu and the third-generation descendant of the Peking Opera Mei School, performed the classic Mei School drama "Drunken Concubine" at the Beijing venue, which was applauded by the audience on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
