A happy event in a sad context.

This Friday, April 15, a Ukrainian refugee gave birth to a baby girl in the maternity ward of the hospital in Voiron, near Grenoble (Isère), reports France Bleu Isère.

Tatiana, 32, fled the war in Ukraine and arrived in France in mid-March with her mother-in-law and her 6-year-old son.

She was welcomed into a house in Saint-Etienne-de-Crossey (Isère).

Eight months pregnant, she immediately began a follow-up with the caregivers of the Voiron maternity hospital.

Her husband is still in Ukraine

After a complicated pregnancy and a long journey to reach France, the 30-year-old had the pleasure of giving birth to Vera, 3.2 kg.

She wanted to thank "all those who [have] helped to be safe here and to give birth to [her] baby".

Unfortunately, her husband could not follow her and stayed in Dnipro, their hometown.

When she has regained enough strength, the Ukrainian woman wants to return to the border of her country, in the hope of finding her husband and introducing him to their child.
