According to SBS coverage, it was confirmed that the first 3,000-ton class submarine, the 'Dosan Anchangho', a strategic weapon of the Navy, recently successfully fired a submarine-launched ballistic missile SLBM.
The South Korean military conducted a final test launch of an SLBM in the West Sea area on the 18th.
A high-ranking government source told SBS, "The Dosan Ahn Chang-ho moved from a depth of several tens of meters and fired two shots in a row."
The success of continuous firing instead of one shot means that the actual performance capability has been verified.
Our military authorities are planning to deploy the Dosan Ahn Chang-ho in actual combat within this year.
The 2nd 3,000-ton class ship 'Chororham' and the 3rd ship 'Shin Chaeho' have also been built and are under test operation.
Our military plans to build six more 3,000-ton submarines in the future.
North Korea developed an SLBM ahead of us, but has not been able to release an actual SLBM.
The Dosan Ahn Chang-ho is 83.5 m long and her maximum speed reaches 37 km per hour, and she can submerge for three weeks at a time and perform covert strikes, overwhelming the power of North Korean submarines.
Detailed news will be delivered on SBS 8 News.
