The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, the founder of the United Arab Emirates, was born in the city of Al Ain in 1918. He is the son of Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who ruled Abu Dhabi from 1922 until his death in 1926, and was named after his grandfather Sheikh Zayed Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan (Zayed I), who ruled the emirate from 1855 to 1909.
During his childhood, Sheikh Zayed received the principles of science and knowledge from a religious scholar, who was then called "Al-Mutawa", so he memorized the Holy Qur'an and learned the principles of religion.
His upbringing in the city of Al Ain and its harsh desert surroundings had a clear impact on the formation of his personality.
He was distinguished for his generosity of chest, penetration of insight, long mind and wisdom, which is why he was called “the wise man of the Arabs.”
Sheikh Zayed assumed the position of Ruler's Representative in the Eastern Province in 1946, where he was directly involved in government affairs, and began practicing his ruling experience from the city of Al Ain.
After his success in launching the development wheel of the city of Al Ain in the fifties despite the lack of resources, Sheikh Zayed took over the rule of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in August 1966, and put it on the path of sustainable growth and development, where he and the UAE are set an example today in the entire region.
In 1971, the late Sheikh Zayed, in cooperation with the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the ruler of the Emirate of Dubai at the time, led the efforts to establish the State of the Union, which saw the light in December 1971.
In appreciation of his efforts, leadership role and skill, Their Highnesses the rulers of the Emirates chose Sheikh Zayed to head the United Arab Emirates, thus becoming the first head of the state, a position that earned him his permanent title of "The Founding Father".
He was known for his closeness to his people and his enjoyment of meetings and meetings with the local community.
Sheikh Zayed, may his soul rest in peace, moved to the side of his Lord on the second of November 2004 at the age of 86 years, which he spent in the service of his nation, his homeland and its citizens, during which he made every effort to achieve good, prosperity and stability for the homeland and the citizen and the Arab and Islamic nations, leaving the UAE as a young and modern state.
