Zakharova: Russia warned Sweden and Finland about the consequences of joining NATO

According to her, the EU and the US have drawn Sweden and Finland into their structures for a long time. 

At the same time, Zakharova said that if these countries go this way, it will change the geopolitical situation in Europe, in close proximity to Russia.

“We made all our warnings both publicly and through bilateral channels,” RIA Novosti quotes her. 

Earlier, the Foreign Ministry stated that the possible entry of Sweden and Finland into NATO would have negative consequences for peace and stability in Northern Europe.

Press Secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov said that the further expansion of the NATO alliance will not bring additional security to the European continent.
