Workers working on gas pipes in the Montorio neighborhood recently unearthed a mosaic dating back to Roman times,

“We are happy that the Agsm Aim group, with its work in the region, is discovering treasures of which Verona is rich.
This is an extraordinary example.
Together with the mayor, we will study the most appropriate choices to make to make these important discoveries usable and visible for our citizens and tourists”, commented Stefano Casali, president of the group.

A future exhibition around the Roman villa?
The mayor of Verona, Federico Sboarina, has meanwhile made it known that he intends to exploit the mosaic.
“Discovering the site is a great gift for Montorio because it is Verona, full of extraordinary discoveries and beauty,” he enthused.
This excavation is far from being the only one in Verona.
Fragments of mosaics, spas and residential complexes have indeed been taken out of the ground several times for years.
The municipality is also thinking about setting up an exhibition dedicated to the Roman villa, but also to promote all of these discoveries.
