RBC: Russian banks affected by blocking sanctions will not be able to issue UnionPay cards

It is noted that the UnionPay payment system avoids cooperation with large Russian banks due to the risk of secondary sanctions.

In particular, the restrictions will affect Sberbank, Alfa-Bank, VTB and a number of other Russian banks.

Earlier, the Russian government approved additional measures to increase the resilience of the country's economy against the backdrop of external pressure.

Also, the Central Bank, in connection with anti-Russian sanctions, took additional measures to support the financial sector and lending to the Russian economy.
