The protests by climate activists of the "last generation" have again caused traffic disruptions in Frankfurt.

After a break over the Easter holidays, two activists again stuck themselves on a street on Wednesday morning.

At the Kaiserlei between Frankfurt and Offenbach there were therefore significant obstacles, traffic was routed between the demonstrators.

Other activists stuck themselves to the roadway at an intersection in the east of Frankfurt and at the Oberforsthauskreisel.

Among other things, the “last generation” is calling for the expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure projects to be stopped.

"Fossil fuels are leading us to famine, war and destruction, building more infrastructure for them is madness," the group wrote to the federal government on Tuesday.

She announced that she would "peacefully shut down oil and gas pipelines that flow through our country" in the next few days.

In the course of the protests, the police again arrested activists who were brought before the magistrate on Wednesday.

The exact number will not be published until Thursday, a spokesman said.

Last week there were four days of blockades in Frankfurt during which the police had to remove demonstrators who had been glued to the streets.

Almost 200 people had been arrested;

30 people had to remain in custody over Easter.

According to the group, this does not undermine their will to demonstrate.

"I spent Easter in a solitary cell - it was a tough five days," the group quoted a fellow activist who protested again on Wednesday.

According to the group, she was arrested again with almost 40 other activists.
