This second round of the presidential election falls during the Easter school holidays.

Will the call for a green weekend be stronger than the call to the polls?

The two are compatible, this Sunday, April 24, 2022. To vote for Emmanuel Macron or Marine Le Pen, you just need to make a power of attorney.

And since this year, the process has been simplified.

A voter can now give power of attorney to the voter of his choice, even if he is not registered in the same municipality.

This opens up the field of possibilities.

However, the person designated to vote in your place (the proxy) must always vote in the polling station where you are registered.

Before the first round, which took place on April 10, 2022, the Ministry of the Interior had identified 1.5 million proxies.

20 Minutes

tells you how to do it.

How do I request a power of attorney?

You can do it on the Internet, via a specific portal (maprocuration.gouv.fr).

After completing an online form, you will be assigned a registration number.

You will then have to validate your request by physically going to a police station, a gendarmerie or a court (or a consulate or the embassy of the country, if you are abroad).

On site, you will need to present your registration reference and your identity document (identity card or passport).

You will receive an email from your town hall informing you that your power of attorney has been registered, a few minutes after your identity has been verified.

Another solution, the Cerfa form n° 14952*03.

Please note that the document must be printed on two sheets.

Duplexing is prohibited.

Again, you will have to go to a police station or a gendarmerie with an identity document to file your application.

And for the person you have assigned?

She goes to your polling station with her identity document, tells the assessor your name before slipping the envelope into the ballot box [with the name of the candidate you have chosen, we hope! ].

Where can you find your national voter number?

To give power of attorney, you will be asked for your national voter number and that of the person to whom you are giving power of attorney.

This number is permanent: if you change the commune of registration, you do not change your voter number.

It usually has eight to nine digits.

You will find it on your electoral map or online using the “Question your electoral situation” teleservice (on the service-public.fr website) indicating the municipality in which you are registered, your surname and first name(s), your gender and your date of birth.

The teleservice will then give you your polling station and your national voter number.

Until when can you make a power of attorney?

It is preferable to avoid requests this Saturday evening April 23 (even if it is theoretically possible until the day before the election).

The last requests are generally studied “on the Saturday morning before the ballot”

,

explains the administration.

But doing it as soon as possible is not forbidden!

To whom do you give your power of attorney?

The law does not impose any criteria as to the nature of your relationship with the person named for the power of attorney.

It can be a family member, friend, neighbor, etc.

It's all a matter of trust: it's up to her to respect your choice... or not!

On the campaign websites of Marine Le Pen (mlafrance.fr) and Emmanuel Macron (avecvous.fr), potential voters are referred.

Political parties offer the possibility of connecting voters with activists or members so that they go and vote in their place.
