Want to find a webpage or place you visited a while ago but can't remember how to get back to it?

Your activity history or Google search might be the answer, as Google keeps track of all the websites and links you open.

But how can you see what you've Googled in a day, month or year?

You can use the history feature to find and revisit any webpage you've explored as if you've never lost it in cyberspace.

Here's how to use Google's search history functionality:

You can access your Google Account history from any device that has a browser, whether it's a Windows or Mac, mobile phone or tablet.

The process is very simple because you only need a username and password.

This is what you have to do:

Open your browser and go to the Google homepage, press the Sign In button in the upper right corner (if you are not currently logged in), enter your credentials, then click your profile icon in the upper right corner and select File Manage your Google Account.

Select Data & Privacy Profile

Profile Data and Privacy (Google)

Scroll down to the activity log file and places you've been.

Activity log file and places visited (Google)

Click on My Activity.

My Activities Dashboard (Google)

Then scroll down the page to use the general search bar file or filter by date & product (Android, Maps, YouTube, etc), or just scroll down the list and browse by date and time.

When you use the various viewing options above, you get a list of websites, apps, and/or updates for all devices associated with your Google account.

The search bar allows you to find specific activities, apps, or websites.

Filtered options include sorting by date, date range, and apps.

Access to modern history

To view a history of pages you've visited recently, select Bundle View or Item View from the menu on the left of the page and scroll down the page.

Access to ancient history

Use the search box at the top of the screen to find a specific page you visited in the past, and you can also use the filter by date feature for a more specific search.

Delete a page from history

Under the Today section you can select the service from which you want to delete history, and to delete the history of one or a few pages you have visited recently:

Select on Package Width or Item Width from the menu on the right.

Select the page you want to delete.

Click on the three dots to the left of the section you want to delete the page from.

Select Delete.

You can repeat this process for all pages you want to delete.

To find a page you visited in the past, use the search box at the top of the screen, where you can use the filter by date and the product feature to do a more specific search, and after selecting the entries you want to delete, use the same steps in the Delete a page from history section.

disable log

If you want to disable history tracking for Google services, follow these steps:

Head over to the Activity controls section on the top right of the homepage, search for Web & App Activity, tap the pause icon and tick the checkmarks to toggle them, and confirm your decision with each section if prompted.

You can get to this section quickly by going directly to the Activity controls section, and it is worth noting that if you are not signed in to any Google service, your web search history will not be recorded.
