It's a barely believable story.

After disappearing on September 28, 2019, an 18-year-old autistic young man was found 1,200 km from his parents' home in the United States.

He will have spent two and a half years far from his home before being finally found and identified by the police officers of Summit County (Utah), reports NBC News.

Despite a search launched immediately after his disappearance in Clearlake, California, the authorities had never found the trace of the teenager, then 16 years old.

Until local Summit County police tried to help a teenager who was sleeping outside in extremely low temperatures.

“It is a truly miraculous discovery”

But the latter always refused the help of the agents and never wanted to decline his identity.

Finally, on April 9, a motorist again reported the presence of this frozen young man near a gas station.

The police offered him to come warm up in their car and they were then able to take his fingerprints.

Officers spotted a poster of the young man in the National Center for Missing Children's database, which led to them contacting Clearlake Police and the teen's parents who immediately rushed to find their son .

“It is beyond anything we could imagine.

It's a truly miraculous find,” said Lt. Andrew Wright of the Summit County Sheriff's Office.

It is not known, for the time being, what the young man did during these two years.
