The attack on a mother and her two young children on Tuesday morning in the metro caused a stir in Rennes.
This Wednesday, we learn that the man suspected of being behind the punches was placed in a psychiatric unit at CHR Guillaume-Régnier.
“The defendant was hospitalized and he will be taken back into police custody when his state of health allows it to be heard on the facts”, specifies the public prosecutor of Rennes.

The assault took place late Tuesday morning in a metro train stopped at Villejean-Université station.
A 22-year-old woman was punched several times, as were her children aged 1 and 2.
“The two children each benefit from a day of ITT.
The medico-legal examination made it possible to rule out the possibility of a stab wound which had initially been mentioned, ”says Philippe Astruc.
The man in question has a psychiatric history and had left the Guillaume-Régnier hospital center where he was being treated.
It is not known at this time whether he was housed in a secure unit.
