“Moscow is expressing serious concern about the escalation of violence in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, primarily in the Old City of Jerusalem, including the Al-Aqsa mosque complex,” the statement said.
It is noted that in order to stabilize the situation, Russian diplomacy is conducting the necessary contacts with the Palestinians, Israelis and Arab capitals.
Earlier, Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf Naif Falah al-Hajraf condemned the actions of the Israeli security forces against worshipers at the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.
The US State Department urged Israelis and Palestinians to exercise restraint following the riots on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem's Old City.
